"Imagine walking into a room every day with some people you know and others you don't, explaining all of your most intense experiences—I was going through that daily for at least six hours a day," she said.

Her main collaborator on the album was Alexander Glantz, known professionally as Alexander 23.

"He listens to me, respects me, and is actually interested in what I have to say musically," she continued.

Despite having a thriving acting career, Rapp admitted that she enjoys making music more.

“God, I love it so much. It’s, like, I don’t even care. And I don’t know if that’s because I’ve had different experiences on the other side because I’ve also had amazing experiences on the other side, but it just doesn’t f***ing matter to me in music,” she told Zane Lowe in an episode of Apple Music 1.

“Everybody’s like, ‘Music is so psychotic. This business is crazy. Don’t you wish you could just go back to not having that?’ And I’m like, ‘No. No. I am so much happier when I’m doing this.’”

Who does Reneé Rapp play in Mean Girls?

Reneé Rapp plays Regina George in both the Mean Girls Broadway musical and its film counterpart.

The role was originally played by Rachel McAdams.

And while Regina is the villain in the story, Rapp says that the character is not a lost cause.

"Look, I love that she says what she thinks. I really do," she told People. "Now, I think a lot of things this character says are not nice, but I think in order to be manipulative you have to be really intelligent."

"I don't think she's using her intelligence in the best, most productive way," she added. "However, I don't know, she's determined. Something about that is hot to me. The mean girl is always hot to me."
