Kate Winselt Opens Up About Best Friend Leonardo DiCaprio
It's been almost twenty years since Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio appeared on screen together as Rose DeWitt Bukater and Jack Dawson in Titanic, and while a lot has changed since they're breakout roles in the blockbuster hit one thing remains the same—their everlasting friendship.
"He's a solid, loyal person," Winslet tells People in this week's issue. "He's a great friend, he always has been, and not just to me, but to everyone around him. He still has friends he had when we made Titanic. In many ways he hasn't changed a bit, but in other ways he absolutely has changed."
Through the years, DiCaprio has honed his craft, something that Winslet, who also co-starred with him in 2008's Revolutionary Road, recognizes. "He's a stronger actor in this moment than he's ever been," she says, but that's not the only thing that has matured for the better. "I think he's more handsome than he's ever been. And he feels, to me, the most settled he's ever felt, in himself, right now, which is quite strange, really, given that there's a lot happening around him."
Winslet and DiCaprio are currently both having a whirlwind awards season. The actress took home a Golden Globe for her role in Steve Jobs, while DiCaprio nabbed a Globe and an actor at the SAG Awards for The Revenant. With the Oscars on the horizon, we can't wait to see how these besties continue to celebrate in the coming weeks.
