Joseph Colombo Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Colombo Jr., a beloved member of the Heartland Village community. He peacefully departed this world on November 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph, aged 72, was a devoted husband to Joanne and a loving father to Stephanie and Victoria. He was also a cherished brother to Anthony, John, and Christopher. He is preceded in death by his brother Carmine, and his parents, Joseph Sr. and Giovanna Colombo. Joseph held a special place in the hearts of many as a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Brooklyn on April 12, 1951, Joseph and his wife relocated to Staten Island in 1979, creating a warm and loving home for their family. Joseph was a graduate of John Jay High School and the City College of New York. His career as an x-ray technician at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn spanned an impressive 40 years, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and patients.
In his leisure time, Joseph was a man of diverse interests. He found solace in gardening, cherished moments by the beach, and explored the world of options trading. Photography allowed him to capture the beauty of life, and he shared his love for Star Trek with his daughters, creating cherished memories together. Family outings to witness the performances at Lincoln Center were a source of joy, and his love for music spanned various genres.
The Colombo family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects at the Matthew Funeral Home on Sunday, November 12, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral will depart on Monday, November 13, at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Tower to Tunnels Foundation, organizations that held special meaning for him.
